The House of Representatives has called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief materials to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were victims of recent attacks in some communities of Nasarawa and Benue states.

The House said the relief materials the IDPs urgently need include food items, blankets, medical facilities, mattresses and potable water supply.

Adopting a motion by Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo (PDP Nasarawa), the House also urged the Nigeria Police to, as a remedial measure, send a Mobile Squad to provide security by regularly conducting surveillance within the border communities of the two states.

While condemning the attacks, the House noted that the migration and displacement of villages within the boundary communities of the two states led to the emergence of IDPs in Awe, Azara, Keana and Rukubi towns of Nasarawa State.
