A Senate delegation led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa) has paid a condolence visit to Fika Emirate in Potiskum town, Yobe State over the death of elder statesman Malam Adamu Ciroma.
Other senators on the delegation are Bukar Abba Ibrahim (Yobe East); Muhammad Ubale Shitu (Jigawa North); Jeremiah Useni (Plateau South); Theodre Orji (Abia Central); Ben Murray-Bruce (Bayelsa East) and Muhammad Hassan (Yobe South).
Speaking during the visit at the emir’s palace yesterday, Senator Adamu said “It is customary for the National Assembly to recognize this elder statesman in memory of the service he has rendered to this great country. We raised delegation to visit his domain and you as the father of this emirate, the Senate nominated us to come and pay condolence visit for the repose of our Father, the late Madaki of Fika, Malam Adamu Ciroma”.
He said the contributions made by the deceased for the development of the country cannot be forgotten, “We missed him more than even this emirate”.
He described late Ciroma, who died on July 5, as a master who was listened, watched and read severally on newspapers, television and radio by all Nigerians.
In his response, the Emir of Fika, who is also the Chairman, Yobe State Council of Chiefs, Dr Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idrissa thanked the Senate delegation for the visit.
The emir, represented by the Dala of Fika, Muhammad Maina Waziri, prayed almighty God to reward them abundantly and grant them safe journey back to the Senate.
