The National Human Rights Commission has called on the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) to be orderly while protesting for the release of their leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.

In a statement by the spokesperson of the commission, Fatima Agwai Mohammed, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Mrs Oti Ovrawah, stated this while reacting to the protest by the group which turned violent and disrupted peace in some parts of the FCT earlier in the week.

Ovrawah stated that though the Constitution and other international human rights laws guarantee right to peaceful protest, the government owes its citizens a responsibility to restore law and order if such protests turn violent.
