A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has asked members and critical stakeholders of the party to bury their differences and work together to secure the future of the country.

George spoke Wednesday during a reconciliation meeting of elders of the party in Lagos.

He said if the PDP is allowed to collapse, Nigeria might equally collapse, stressing that key players in the party must work towards strengthening the party to reclaim power in 2027.

George advised leaders of the party at the national and state levels to embrace the current reconciliatory efforts stressing that the PDP is the only party that can save Nigeria from collapse.

He said “Party leaders are determined to ensure that the PDP returns to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, and take over governance in Lagos State on May 29, 2027. But we can only do this if we are united, not divided.

“If PDP collapses today, Nigeria may also collapse because PDP is the engine room of this country. We must think of the corporate future of Nigeria and avoid a situation where we are divided.

“Nigerians are waiting for us in 2027, but we must put our house in order. This is the time to promote justice, fairness and equity in our party. We know there are crises in many state chapters of our party and we cannot continue to hide behind a finger.”

The state chairman, Philip Aivoji, said leaders of the party must embrace reconciliation as a foundation for building a strong solidarity within the party.

“Inclusivity is key to ensuring that all voices are heard and represented in the decision-making process. Every member of the PDP in Lagos State has a valuable perspective to offer. By fostering inclusivity, we can tap into the diverse talents and ideas within our party,” he said.

The meeting was attended by a former Minister of Integration and Cooperation, Dr. Abimbola Ogunkelu; first elected PDP chairman in the state, Alhaji M.M Ashonobi; state PDP chairman, Philip Aivoji, chairmen of the party in the 20 LGAs.
