A 40-year-old snake charmer, Isah Saidu, has been remanded in prison for alleged negligence in the death of his son who was bitten by one of his snakes.

Witnesses said Saidu, who resides in Kuringafa village, Kafur LGA of Katsina State was invited to a neighbouring village for to perform but he decided to send his 15-year-old son, Kamilu Isah, in his stead.

When he returned home, his father noticed the blood on his fingers but upon enquiry the deceased waved it away. Later he began to vomit and was rushed to Malumfashi General Hospital where he died, the witness said.

Saidu is currently facing a culpable homicide charge before a magistrate’s court which is punishable with death.

However, it was gathered that at the next adjourned sitting slated for Dec 19, the current charges would be substituted with that of negligence following further investigation carried out by the police.
