A soldier is feared killed following a fight between two rival cult groups around the North Bank market area of Makurdi, Benue State.
A young man was also reportedly injured in the clash which occurred between Tuesday night and Wednesday evening.
Residents alleged that the soldier was caught up in the exchange of gun duel between the cult groups. He was said to be either on his way in or out of the Army barracks, which was close to the scene of the clash.
It was also learnt that the injured victim had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
At the time of this report, residents of the area have reportedly fled while commercial activities close down for their own safety.
Contacted, the Police Spokesman for Benue Command, Moses Joel Yamu, said he was yet to be briefed of any such happening as he promised to reach out to our correspondent later.
