A suspect, Michael Olowu, 25, yesterday pleaded guilty to two-counts of robbery but rejected the counts bordering on possession of firearm and criminal trespass.

He was arraigned before an FCT High Court by the FCT Commissioner of Police on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit the offence of armed robbery, trespass and possession of firearms.

The charge against him said while armed with one locally made pistol, he agreed and conspired with five others still at large to rob one Mr. Olayiwola Ayeni and his household at Apo, FCT, Abuja.

Ayeni was allegedly dispossessed of two laptops, two mobile phones, his wallet containing N36,000 cash and four ATM cards, among others.

After pleading guilty to the first two counts bordering on armed robbery, the court allowed his counsel, Barrister Pius Danba, to approach him to confirm if he understood the charges against him.

Police prosecutor Barr. Donatus Abah said Olowu and his gang smashed the window of a car in the house so as to use it to convey the items they stole from the house.

He said it was while trying to start the car that police operatives from Apo division arrived the scene and arrested Olowu while the others ran away.

The trial judge, Justice C.N. Orji thereafter adjourned the matter to December 5 for hearing and ordered that the suspect be remanded in Kuje prisons.
