A 25-year-old man, Wisdom Azubuike, of Obokwu Obidi, Oguta LGA in Imo State has been arrested in Katsina for allegedly specialising in using master keys to steal cars and items kept in them.
Parading the suspect, the state Commissioner of Police, Besen Gwana, said the command on November 3 arrested Azubuike who allegedly belonged to a syndicate of car thieves/ snatchers.
According to him, the arrested suspect was caught while trying to move a Toyota Carina car he had opened with a fabricated key. He said the car, valued N950,000 belongs to one Emmanuel Okeke of Havana Hotel, Katsina.
Azubuike admitted to the crime. He said his friend, one Christopher, introduced him to the business when he complained to him that he needed money to set up his own medicine store.
The police said a man hunt has been launched to arrest the other members of the gang.
