Professor Opubo Benedict da Lilly-Tariah has been installed as the 20th President of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN), Lagos.
At his investiture in Lagos, the new Postgraduate Medical College President promised to continuously work and preserve the College’s vision and mission. He said his administration will ensure that the College does more in the area of certification of more courses, pursuance of new programmes and disciplines among others.
Born on December 1st, 1958 in Jos, the Plateau State capital, Da Lilly-Tariah started his education at the Saint Michael’s Primary School Buguma in 1965. He was admitted to the Government College Ughelli for secondary school education in 1971. He passed the West African School Certificate Examination in 1975 and after a stint of two years at the then College of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, he was admitted to the University of Jos to study Medicine in 1977.
Da Lilly-Tariah graduated in 1984 as a medical doctor, went for housemanship at the University of Jos UNIJOS Teaching Hospital and did his National Youth Service at the National Steel Council Clinic, Kaduna from 1985 to 1986.
In 1992, he was appointed Lecturer I at UNIJOS Teaching Hospital.
In 2000, Da Lilly-Tariah was appointed a Consultant at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. He was later promoted Senior Lecturer and a Reader in 2006. In 2010, he was promoted Professor of Oto -Rhino-Laryngology by the University of Port Harcourt.
Until his appointment as the NPMCN 20th President, Da Lilly-Tariah has held various positions in his career. He was the immediate past College Treasurer and before then has served as the Chairman of the Faculty of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology of NPMCN.
