An 18-year-old boy, Abdussalam Danladi has been killed by his peers after they stabbed him in the neck with a knife over some dispute.
The boys who killed him were said to be aged 17 years and below.
The deceased, a resident of Doya Quarters in Bauchi metropolis reportedly died few minutes later due to excessive loss of blood from the neck wound as the knife was said to have severed his jugular vein.
A senior brother to the deceased, Jamilu Danladi informed journalists that they prayed together with the deceased on Friday at the Mosque in front of their house and he left the deceased for his house at Inkil on the outskirts of Bauchi town.
"I was in my house when I was called on phone and told that my brother was killed by some boys. I was shocked and devastated because of the way he was slaughtered on the neck," he said.
He said that his brother died some minutes after 9:00 pm Friday night and was buried Saturday.
Jamilu informed that his deceased brother had a misunderstanding with the boys who killed him on Wednesday when they beamed their Torchlight on his face and he asked them to stop which led to hot verbal exchange and one of the boys stabbed an wounded him with a Screwdriver,"he said.
"That was what happened between them and my brother on Wednesday. He later reported them to our disciplinary members who settle such disputes. He was asked to name the boys involved and he named them. We were not sure wether they have invited the boys or not.
"So the next day (Thursday) my brother told one of his friends called Muhammad who was his friend and lives near our house and he equally reported the same case to the dispute resolution committee for them to warn the boys," he said.
He further informed that his brother was called by one of the boys on phone to meet them somewhere not knowing that they had planned to kill him, so immediately he arrived the place they reportedly surrounded him and started beating him.
"One of the boys slapped him and the others joined in the beating and one of them brought out a sharp knife and stabbed him on the neck and severed his jugular vein and windpipe," he added.
According to him, the deceased held his neck and run back home, but he collapsed outside and his friend Muhammad removed his shirt and wrapped the deceased neck to stop the bleeding. We tried to take him to hospital but he died before we left for hospital," he added.
He however said that they later took the corpse to hospital and reported the matter to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
When contacted, the Bauchi State Police command spokesperson, DSP Kamal Datti confirmed that they have received a report about the case and have arrested some of the boys involved.
"We have arrested three of the boys who attacked him as I am speaking to you now, we know that one of the boys, Abubakar Yakubu was the one who killed him. The others involved are; Kamalu Muhammad and Sulaiman Muhammad and they are all below 18 years and they are in our hands,"he said.
He said that they are investigating the matter and will take the culprits to court after the investigation.
