The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, has said that the telecommunications and the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sectors have been attracting foreign direct investments in billions and boosting the economy.
He made the remark in a message in Jos at the investiture of Chief Elvis Chibiko Chukwu as Rotary International District 9125 Governor.
Represented by Engineer Daudu Yusuf Festus of the ministry, the minister said efforts are being made to diversify the economy by developing the real and non-oil sectors with telecoms, and ICT is leading the pack.
Shittu said the federal government was making efforts to rejig the ICT sector architecture and make it the mainstay of the economy in order to enable a faster economic growth.
