Two commercial motorcyclists have been killed and their motorcycles snatched, at Karu Federal Housing and Jikwoyi Phase 1 respectively.
City News gathered that a 20-year-old cyclist, Usman Aliyu, was stabbed around Karu Federal Housing Phase II around 9:30pm on Monday and his motorcycle snatched by an unknown person(s).
Speaking with our reporter, a relation of the deceased, Malam Usman Abdullah Naibi, said, Aliyu died in hospital on Wednesday morning from stab wounds inflicted on him by his assailants.
He said the deceased left that fateful Monday morning to earn his living only to return at night with wounds.
“Unknown motorcycle snatchers stabbed him and snatched his motorcycle. He struggled and returned home but he could not speak to us. The only word he uttered to us was ‘I was beaten and my motorcycle snatched from me’. So we rushed him to Nyanya General Hospital, where he was receiving treatment until he died,” he said.
In a similar incident, a 24-year-old okada rider, Aminu Usman, aka Dan Minister, was killed by unknown motorcycle snatchers in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Relations of the deceased said he was stabbed at Jikwoyi Phase 1 and was left to bleed to death while his motorcycle was taken away.
Speaking with our reporter, a cousin of the deceased, Malam Hussein Ashiru, said, “The deceased was last seen at 11:00pm on Tuesday and I was surprised when I received a call on Wednesday morning that I should come to Jikwoyi Phase 1 to identify Usman’s corpse. On getting there, I discovered that my cousin was stabbed to death.”
The Chief of Jikwoyi, Rev Bawa Jetta said, “I was informed by one of the residents that somebody was killed in Phase 1. This is very unfortunate as we have not experienced such in the past.”
The chief urged the residents to partner with the police to fish out those committing crime in the area and also advised them not to harbor criminals in their homes.
The FCT police command’s spokesman, Anjuguri Manzah, told City News on phone that he had made enquiries from Karu and Jikwoyi divisions but he was told there were reports of incidents like that.
He reiterated that the command was doing its best to curb crime in the FCT.
