Thousands of supporters of former member of the House Representative and gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, Hon. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, at weekend shutdown Lafia, the state capital.
His supporters, including women from 13 local government areas, trooped out massively to welcome him.
The supporters who came in different vehicles pasted with posters, motorcycles and other many other pedestrians carrying various placards of the aspirant crowded the city gate of Lafia to accompany Wadada to the APC Secretariat in the state. This caused traffic gridlocks in major roads within the hearts of the city center.
Wadada arrived the city center roundabout on his way to the Emir of Lafia’s palace as cultural groups dressed in their various ethnic attires played different musical instruments along to entertain the mammoth crowd.
Speaking at the APC Secretariat where he donated three vehicles to the party, Wadada, said that his ambition to become the next governor of the state was a response to clarion calls from numerous people to reposition the state.
He said: "If elected, I will perform better than Governor Tanko Al-Makura. I will use my wealth of experience to boost agricultural potentials to redeem the economic fortune of the state. Local government joint account will be abolished to give LGAs financial autonomy to revive primary school education."
He cautioned his supporters to carryout their campaign activities according to the rules of the game devoid of rancour or any form of violence and appealed to other contestants to conducts their political campaign peacefully.
Responding, the APC chairman in Nasarawa state, Philip Tatari Shekwo, thanked Wadada for his gesture to the party and pledged to provide a level-playing ground for all the governorship aspirants in the state.
