The paramount ruler of Tiv nation, Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, has said necessary steps are currently being taken to curb rural-urban migration by making farming attractive to youths in Tiv land.

Ayatse said yesterday at a press conference in Makurdi to herald his visit to South Africa for the purpose of bringing home investors in key agricultural sector, that farming activities would soon blossom in his kingdom.

"We will make farming attractive to the youths by setting up structures that will ensure accurate pricing. We will take necessary step to add value on the crops we produce so that our youths can be motivated to return to the agriculture sector," he said.

The royal father who was invited as an exclusive VIP guest speaker at the African Agri-Investment Summit 2017 holding in Cape Town in South Africa between November 20 and 22, expressed optimism to attract direct foreign investment back home in the course of the experts he would be expected to interact with.

He added that among other things the summit would provide a platform for investment ready projects seeking investment and also engage in dialogue among government/policy decision makers and the private sector on key issues and polices that will drive change on the African continent.

"Poverty index in Tiv nation is too high. To bring it down, I hope to mobilise human and material resources within and outside Nigeria to help train and equip my people especially the youth for modern agricultural practices for greater output," the Tor Tiv maintained.
