Pastor Ebizimo Pi-Oyeinperekumo of the Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Yenagoa has said that if the current spate of begging and laziness among Nigerians is allowed to continue, the spirit of hard work and commitment to duty will be mortgaged on the alter of indolence.
Pastor Pi-Oyeinperekumo stated this yesterday in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State after the official unveiling and launching of his book, “Don’t Beg; You Too Can Make it” at the government house banquet hall.
The cleric said he drew inspiration for the book from God because of the rate at which Nigerian youths and most times, full fledge adults, adopt begging as a means of livelihood. He described it as disturbing, when there are useful ventures they can make a living from through hard work and commitment.
He said if the trend is not checked now, the future generation will be very indolent, thereby creating the highest ratio of dependent population, which will affect the peace of the nation.
He urged the youths of Bayelsa State and Nigeria at large to change their mindsets and work to realize their potentials, instead of resorting to begging for survival.
The Chairman of Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Central Zone, Barr Tare Parri challenged youths of the state to avail themselves of the enormous opportunities created by the state government to acquire skills, instead of begging as a source of livelihood.
Parri, who is also a Special Adviser to Governor Dickson described begging as a sin against God, urging Ijaw youths to be hardworking to ensure that they prepare for future leadership in the country
